Collection: Half Street Studio || Sennit + Sauvage Collaboration

A collaboration of garments by two local STL area artists: Teresa Stanton and Allyson Bailey Wilmowski

Teresa Stanton of Half Street Studio is a Southern Illinois-based studio artisan who has made the shift to upcycled materials and an eco friendly creative process. She is currently refashioning post consumer natural fiber clothing discards for a wearable canvas and using natural pigment from local wind fallen leaves to create printed motifs. Sennit + Sauvage, by Allyson Bailey Wilmowski, is home to a curated collection of leather goods and textiles for wear and decor. Her theory that being handmade does not mean an item shouldn't be held to a high quality standard guides everything she creates. Allyson works with materials that have a history and strive to make beautiful, well made, useful objects that can be enjoyed for years to come. All of her pieces are created by her hands in St. Louis, MO and are either one-of-a-kind or limited edition. 

Fashion comes and goes, how you look and feel reflects your personal longstanding authentic style. As makers we typically engage with conversation about our market, talking about the type of woman attracted to our creative process and outcomes. It is our occupation to discern your style and our will to give our best in process, materials and experience. This collaboration collection is intuitively created with intention by such an exchange between Allyson and Teresa. Their combined thought is towards those aligning with abundance, strength and gratitude.

These pieces are made in either waxing moon (l-xl) or full moon size (xl-xxl) and pieced with Allyson's breast cancer awareness hand painted bamboo blend fabrics then over dyed with generously sized Oak Leaf Hydrangea prints by Teresa. It is "regal" feminine energy, an abundant presence, goddess like strength and a heartful gratitude for being appreciated by others. Fabrics painted with egyptian gold pigment in organic female breast contour line marks. Prints in warm natural leaf pigment embody the symbology of Hydrangea quercifolia. The genus name comes from the Greek roots hydro- meaning “water” and –aggeion meaning “vessel.” The specific epithet comes from the Latin for oak Quercus, and folia meaning leaf due to the deep lobed shape and pointed vein tips. Collectively hydrangea symbolize good fortune and abundance, It can portray heartfelt, honest emotions of any kind, along with basic sentiments like gratitude, understanding, and abundance. The Oak a symbol of strength, morale, resistance and knowledge.
